Introduction

The Optional Retirement Program (the “ORP”) is a flexible and portable retirement plan for faculty and senior administrators at the Commonwealth’s public institutions of higher education. Eligible Employees may choose either the ORP or the State Employees’ Retirement System for their retirement coverage.

These web pages provide detailed information about the ORP’s features and benefits. We have also included information to help newly eligible employees with their choice of plans.

The Summary Plan Description (.PDF) also provides a concise overview of the Plan’s provisions.
