The Commonwealth provides group term life insurance for all active participants in the program. This coverage pays survivor benefits in addition to any death benefits available under your retirement account.

The Certificate of Insurance is a detailed description of the life insurance benefits provided under the program. You may print this document for personal reference. However, you should check this site for the most recent version of the certificate because benefits can change over time.
Accelerated Death Benefits: Ask the Plan Administrator for an accelerated death benefits application at any time.
Death Benefits: Upon the death of an active participant, the Plan Administrator will coordinate and submit a claim for death benefits on behalf of the participant’s beneficiaries.
