Performance Measurement System
The Board of Higher Education is mandated to develop, in collaboration with the institutions, a performance measurement system for state and community colleges “in order to promote accountability for effective management and stewardship of public funds and to achieve and demonstrate measurable educational outcomes.” The University of Massachusetts develops its own performance measurement system in consultation with the Board of Higher Education.
The performance measurement system has undergone continuous enhancements and review. The performance measurement system consists of indicators in the following categories:
- Access
- Affordability
- Student Success
- Cost-Effective Use of Resources
Each year, the state and community colleges and University of Massachusetts campuses submit data to the Higher Education Research System. Data are published in both the Linear Trend Books and the Performance Measurement Report.
