About the Student Advisory Council
The Student Advisory Council (SAC) was created to set up a dialogue between student leaders from every public college and university in Massachusetts and the Board of Higher Education. SAC meetings are held once a month during the academic year at centrally located campuses. Voting membership is extended to all Student Trustees and Student Government Association (Student Senate) Presidents at every community college, state college, and each University of Massachusetts campus; however, all students are welcome and are encouraged to participate.
Each year, members of SAC organize a student leadership conference in the spring that includes: open meetings with members of the Board of Higher Education and its staff, guest speakers, and workshops that promote student leadership. In addition, SAC interviews candidates for the student member of the Board of Higher Education and segmental advisors and recommends students for those positions.
For more information about SAC, contact Clantha McCurdy, Vice Chancellor for Student Financial Assistance, Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance, 617-727-9420 x1205, cmccurdy@bhe.mass.edu
