The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)Glossary is one of the most important pieces to complete during your application process. Two points to remember:

  1. Fill out the FAFSA external every year, whether or not you think you are eligible.
  2. Select your intended transfer college or university on the form. (If you already applied, call 1-800-433-3243 to add your new college choice, or add the new college online external).

The information you include on the FAFSA will be automatically sent to the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance external, which processes financial assistance at Massachusetts institutions.

Cost of Attendance

Every school is different, but in 2008-2009 the average annual cost to attend (tuition plus fees) full-time for two semesters is $3,862 at the community colleges; $6,400 at the Massachusetts state universities; and $9,585 at the University of Massachusetts.
