Herter Alum Anne Renneburg poses with 2015 Herter Scholarship winner

Become a Mentor

A Gallup survey of more than 30,000 college students found that students with a mentor who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams were more likely to succeed and have a greater overall well-being. Unfortunately, only 22% of students have a mentor in their life.

As a Herter Scholar alum, you understand what it's like to overcome major adversity. You can give back by donating your time to current Herter scholars. Become a mentor, and help them navigate college life and succeed in their careers. Fill out the form on the Share Your Story page, and the Office of Student Financial Assistance will work to match you up with a current college student.

Share Your Story

If you don't have the time or are too far away to become a mentor to current Herter Scholars, consider sharing your story for our website or speaking at an event. This helps us sustain support for the program and inspire new students to continue pursuing academic excellence. Let us know what you are up to by filling out the form on the Share Your Story page.
