Systemwide Programs
The following Board of Higher Education programs and activities are collaborations among Massachusetts public higher education institutions.
Transfer Programs
The Board of Higher Education and its 29-campus system provide numerous programs to encourage and expedite the transfer of credits from community colleges to four-year institutions. Each of the following transfer programs focuses on a different aspect of the transfer process for graduates of Massachusetts community colleges: the Commonwealth Transfer Compact ensures the easy transfer of credits, Joint Admissions provides automatic admission to certain programs, and the Tuition Advantage Plan (TAP) reduces the cost of tuition at public four-year institutions for community college graduates who participate in the Joint Admission program.
Honors Programs
Massachusetts is the only state in the country to offer an integrated network of honors programs throughout the public higher education system. There are Commonwealth Honors Programs in community and state colleges and on the campuses of the University of Massachusetts.
