Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Information and Resources

COVID-19 Information and Resources

Guidance on how to prevent and respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is rapidly evolving. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH) continues to work closely with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to monitor the situation and provide updated information. Public health officials still maintain that the current risk to Massachusetts is low, including on our campuses, but we understand that administrators, students, faculty, staff and parents are concerned.

The Department of Higher Education recognizes that colleges and universities across the Commonwealth are working diligently on prevention and early response efforts to help protect the health of students, faculty and staff, while also engaging in long-term, contingency planning exercises to minimize potential operations disruptions. We encourage and seek to support these ongoing efforts.

To that end, the Department has consolidated resources, below, to help guide public and private higher education institutions in early prevention and response efforts, as well as long-term planning.

The DHE’s COVID-19 team can be reached via by email at COVID-19@dhe.mass.edu

    • The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is supporting a coordinated process to collect donations of medical supplies to augment the Commonwealth’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A Donations Management Branch has been established to be the central repository of these requests. If your department or agency has supplies that you’d like to donate, or would like to talk through the donations process, the Donations Management Branch can be reached at 508-820-2074 or via email at donationsdeskmema@gmail.com
More information about how you can donate can be found here >
    Volunteers
    • The Baker-Polito Administration recently launched an initiative to recruit volunteer medical professionals to support hospitals as the Commonwealth continues to expand medical capacity. Since launching the initiative, thousands of volunteers have already signed up, reflective of the Commonwealth’s world-class health care workforce.
    • To support expedited onboarding of these volunteers, the Department of Public Health has issued an order authorizing the Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management to perform a CORI check on any volunteer who registered through the volunteer portal without a notarized CORI acknowledgement form
