The Board of Higher Education’s Employee Relations office oversees the state’s Optional Retirement Program, an alternative to the State Employees’ Retirement System, that provides pension benefits for faculty and senior administrators at the Commonwealth’s public institutions of higher education.
The Board of Higher Education works with the state and community colleges on appropriate affirmative action plans and personnel policies, and negotiates collective bargaining agreements on behalf of employees of public higher education.
The Board also handles payroll and payroll-related information on behalf of campus employees, provides information on several retirement and savings plan options and encourages participation in various plans which provide dental, vision and health care benefits.
